Radio Baghdad

The Trio Radio Baghdad performs Iraqi songs and music extracted from the “Iraqi Makam.” Through their harmonious blend of melodies and lyrics, they convey emotions ranging from profound sorrow, yearning, and melancholy to moments of joy and profound love. The vocalist, Aviv Badri Ezra, grew up on the sound and repertoire of the Iraqi maqam during his childhood. Now, he resurrects these timeless tunes with his soulful voice. Joining him in this musical journey are Johanna Riethmüller, on the violin, and Yaniv Masel on the oud. This trio’s personal and musical bond was forged over a decade ago in Tel Aviv’s punk and alternative music scene, creating this unique fusion of cultural influences and musical talents.
