The flutist Yitzhak Ventura in a solo performance – special guest Maayan Linik

Yitzhak Ventura is considered one of the leading musicians in his field in the country. A player, composer, and producer who excels in playing one of the oldest wind instruments in the East – the ney flute made of reed. Ventura studied and deeply researched the styles of the Arabic, Turkish, and Persian ney. He has been playing with the “Jerusalem East and West Orchestra” since its establishment in 2009, and additionally records, plays, and collaborates with well-known orchestras and musicians in a wide range of musical genres (Tuna, Dudu Tassa, Yasmin Moalem, Omer Adam, Jonny Greenwood, and others).

Ventura’s debut album includes ten original compositions that combine traditional motifs and virtuoso expressions. In his second album, he created a new and contemporary musical language that combines ancient ney sounds and motifs with electronic music, produced by Yuval Havkin (Rejoicer) under the Raw Tapes label.

From the first seconds of the performance, it becomes clear that you are in a new and exceptional musical space. The sound of the ney flute echoes an ancient story of a journey that extends from the mountains of Iran and Turkey to the deserts of Arabia and right to us. The analog synthesizers elegantly wrap the sounds, allowing for a true and fascinating dialogue, resulting in a performance that takes the listener on a celestial experience between a spiritual journey and a contemporary dive.

The phenomenal singer/songwriter Maayan Linik will be a guest at the performance.
