A new exhibition is going up on the walls of Mazkeka, “Blood, Man, and Earth” (Curator: Ayala Landau) featuring analog and digital prints by the artist VAL SADEN.

Man is born into a cycle he did not choose.
The earth was here before him and will be here after him.
It records our steps, absorbs the water and blood, and gives us new life in return. Man is born from the dust, the plant is born from the earth.

We rise and fall, love and hate, sow and reap.
We die and are born.
Love gives birth to pain, which leads to suffering, which brings understanding, whose result is release, which leads to love, and so on.
Death becomes enlightenment, the body becomes fertilizer for the next life.

Humans have always sought to understand their place within the cycle of life, birth, and death—above nature, beneath the sky, and the forces of creation.

The exhibition “Blood, Man, and Earth” deals with the repetitiveness of the life cycle and the intergenerational transmission of myths in the form of folklore over thousands of years. It asks questions about repetition through various analog and digital print media and explores the connection between “perfect” repetitiveness and organic repetition.
